TIME

You have perhaps been told that glass is a liquid, flowing imperceptibly slowly, that in the stained glass windows of medieval cathedrals each shard is thicker on the bottom than on the top because it has been pulled down by gravity over the long centuries.

This is of course totally false. Windows were simply fabricated this way at the time.

“Deep Time,” however, takes this fiction at face value, in an attempt to engage with scales of time far surpassing the length of a human life. Generated algorithmically, each design begins with a random seed, dividing the panel into convex fragments. A gravitational simulation is then applied to distort the panel’s geometry, and the result is produced using traditional stained glass techniques.
